Located opposite the old court house is India Street, where a variety of shop-houses trading colourful textiles, clothing, crockery etc. Midway down India street, look for “The Indian Mosque Lane” signage leading you to Gambier street, where you can find all sorts of spices.Completed in 1874, the Old Court House acted as a seat of government. State Council Meetings were held here from 1878 to 1973. Back in 1847, it was a missionary but later converted to a judicial administration. 1883, an obelisk was added to commemorate Rajah Charles Brooke. The corner of the obelisk is a bronze panel.
